1. Choose SY then Company Maintenance from the main menu bar. You can click on the menu selection or highlight the selection with the cursor keys, then press the ENTER key.

Company Maintenance Form

The active company, in this example Acme Corporation, that is Code "00", will be used as a template for the creation of the new company.  When the new company is created the System Maintenance parameters and the general ledger chart of accounts will be copied from company "00".  All other databases will be created with empty records in the new company.  The data of the active company will not be affected during this process.

2. Select the new company code you want to create by clicking on the company code column or the Company column.

3. Click the Add ICON  from the toolbar.

4. Enter the company name for the new company in the company column field.  Once you enter the new company name, press the Enter key.  You will be prompted with the following message.

If you want to save the new company you just entered, click YES.  If you decide you do not want to save the new company you just entered, click NO.

5. Once you have saved the new company name, you will be prompted to select a directory where you want to store the new company database.

6. Select the path for the new company and then click the Save Icon.  In the example above a new folder "My New Company" will be created.

The Directory is where the data for the new company will reside.  You can accept the default path displayed in the textbox.  The new directory name is comprised of "DAT" with the suffix of the company number, in the above example "01", hence the path \DAT01.  Each company you create will be stored in its related directory DAT02, DAT03, DAT03 and so on.  Keeping this directory nomenclature will make it easier to identify and manipulate the data for each company.

7. Repeat the preceding steps for each new company you want to add.  Once the new company databases are created you will be returned to the Company Maintenance.  To start using the new company, log out and log back in selecting the new company.
